then the imfamous interlude where everything quiets down ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------5------------------------------------------------------ -------5-----5---7p5-------------------------------------------------- --/5-7---5-7---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- repeated when necessary p=pulloff / slide up slide down
the solo is based on this scale ---------------------------------10-13------------------------------------ ----------------------------10-13----------------------------------------- ----------------------10-12----------------------------------------------- ----------------10-12----------------------------------------------------- ----------10-12----------------------------------------------------------- ----10-13-----------------------------------------------------------------

"Even Flow" by Pearl Jam from the Epic release "Ten" Music by Stone Gossard, Lyrics by Eddie Vedder Tabbed by David Curtis
This is my first attempt at this so please bear with me. I`ve tried to explain everything as well as I could.
Guitar 1: Open D tuning (D,A,F,D,A,D) Guitar 2: Standard tuning
Guitar 1 - Distorted Opening Riff: D-------|------------------------- A-------|------------------------- F------|------------------------- D-------|------------0------------ A-------|------X-3-X-5------------ D--15--|--5/7-------0--6-5p3-4p0-
Guitar 2 - Distorted e----------------------- B--5/7-7-X-5-7---------- G--5/7-7-X-5-7---------- D--5/7-7-X-5-7--6-53--- A--3/7-5-X-X-5--------5- E-----------------------
Riff 1 (in 2/4 time)
Guitar 1 Riff 1A D--------------------|---12- A--------------------|---12- F-------------------|---12- D--------------------|---12- A--5-3---------------|---12- D------7-5-3-0-3-5-0-|---12-let ring
Guitar 2 e-------------------- B-------------------- G--7-5--------------- D------7-5-3-0-3-5-0-let ring A-------------------- E--------------------
Verse Riff
Guitar 1 - with some palm muting * D------------------- A------------------- F------------------ D------------0------ A------X-3-X-5------ D--57-------0---3/- *
Guitar 2 e---------------------- B--5/7-7-X-X-X-7-X-7-7- G--5/7-7-X-5-X-7-X-7-7- D--5/7-7-X-5-X-7-X-7-7- A--3/5-5-X-X-X-5-X-5-5- E----------------------
Chorus
Guitar 1 D: Bb: C: D----12-----8-----10-- A----12-----8-----10-- F---12-----8-----10-- D----12-----8-----10-- A----12-----8-----10-- D----12-----8-----10--
That`s how the chords are played. They go like this: D Bb D C "Even Flow Thoughts arive like butterflies.."
Continue this chord progression through chorus until:
D C D C "Him away, him away..."
Let the chords ring through the chorus`
Guitar 2 e-------------------------|------------------ B-------------------------|------------------ G--12-11-------7-9b10r9-7-|--11-------------- D--------12-8-------------|-----12-10(whammy) A-------------------------|------------------ E-------------------------|------------------ E ven flow Butterflies
Repeat the second part for "him away..."
Riff 2
Guitar 1 D-------------------------------- A----------------------------12- F---------------------------12- D--X--X--X--X--X--X--X--X----12- A--10-10-10-10-10-11-11-12---12- D--10-10-10-10-10-11-11-12---12-
Guitar 2 e---------------------10- B---------------------10- G---------------------11- D---------------------12- A--X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X----12- E--8-8-8-8-8-9-9-10---X---
Solo Guitar 1 plays Riff 2 with palm muting throughout most ofthe solo, then drops out a little bit before riff 3 comes in. If you listen to the song, you should be able to figure it out.
If you have the Hal Leonard book for this album, subtract 2 frets from every note played in the solo (and all the little fills). That puts you in the right key (D).
Riff 3 (bridge from solo back into chorus) Guitar 1 D-------------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------------- F------------------------------------------- D------X-10-X-12--10------X-10-X-12--/14-12- A--/12-----------------/12------------------- D--------------------------------------------
Guitar 2 plays a D with lots of muting and scratching, growing louder and louder until the chorus. Played like this: e--5- B--7- G--7- D--7- A--5-
Outro Riff
Guitar 2 (with wah) e--------------------------- B--------------------------- G--12-10---10-----------10- D-------12----10----10--10- A----------------12--------- E---------------------------
Order of Song:
Opening Riff (with slide only 1st time) Riff 1 (guitar 1 goes right into verse riff at *) Verse Riff Riff 1 (into opening riff) Opening Riff (guitar 2 with wah) Riff 1 (guitar 1 plays riff 1A also) Chorus Verse Riff Riff 1 (guitar 1 plays riff 1A also) Chorus Riff 2 Solo Riff 3 Chorus Riff 2 (guitar 1 continues riff 2 until end) Outro Riff
